I was so grateful for the guy in front of me in traffic today. I had spent the morning feeling ill, and was not in the best of moods to be going to a job I had been looking forward to all week. But, I pulled myself out of the house, and into my car around 3:30 to head to set.
First, I stopped for gas. Worrying that the lady was taking too long when I was ready to pay, and she started pumping someone else's gas...my nerves started to set in. I somehow managed to calm them down in the end, and began my journey.
Now on a regular day, at an off peak time, this drive would have taken MAYBE 45 minutes. But at 3:45 on a Thursday afternoon when the tunnel's down to one lane...It's a different story.
An hour later, sitting in this line up, trying to get into the tunnel...people, as usual, are trying to come up the inside lane and get in front of everyone who's just waited forever. These people make me angry. The people that make matters worse? The ones who let these morons in!!!!!! Anyway, I'm sitting in line, getting angry at all these people, when the guy in front of me decides to take initiative. He turns his wheels, and positions himself so that he's in the middle of two lanes. AWESOME! People were still trying to get by him, so I followed suit. I pulled up, right to his bumper, and so that my wheels were on either side of the line. No one could get by us, and it was great. Unfortunately once we started moving again, two more people zoomed up and got in. But I still give the guy a thumbs up for doing what he did. I was so grateful that he was in front of me.
I ended up getting to crew park an hour and a bit early, but I got in the shuttle right away, and with the impression that the driver was high or drunk...was very happy when I arrived on location. I got out of the van to see a familiar back. "Patrick?" I called out. He turned around, and gave me a hug. Patrick is a family friend. He plays soccer with my Dad, I've babysat his kids, and he does lighting on different sets. We chatted for a bit, and he walked me to where I had to be. I told him I'd see him in a bit, and went to sit down in holding.
I waited an hour, talking to a girl I know, and then signed in. Once I had done that, the night began with make up. As usual, I can't tell you anything that happened on set, but I'll tell you, I most likely won't be seen, but had fun nonetheless. Every now and then Patrick came on set and we'd talk, and when I signed out hours later, I had a conversation with him until it was time for me to hurry to the last shuttle. I jumped in, and the doors closed. The driver dropped us at Crew Park, and I headed home. I decided to stop at the Starbucks drive thru, but unfortunately, I was 12 minutes late!! They closed at Midnight. I was not happy.
I drove home, decided not to make a coffee or anything because Callan was so comfy on me, was giving the best cuddles and I was too lazy to move. Eventually the tiredness took over, and I decided to come to bed. Good Night xx
