Another early day, but it was SO worth it! My Mom and I had our breakfast, and were then driven into Lisburn where we jumped on a bus to Belfast. Once in the city, we had time to go for a Starbucks before our coach arrived. We went there, got our drinks, then went to the info center to check our e-mails. Once that was done, we went back to the tour center where we'd booked our coach, spoke to the good looking guy you'll see a picture of (on my Facebook), and then we were told the coach had arrived.
We walked out to catch it, spoke to the good looking guy again, who made my knees buckle with a handshake and a wink, and then got on the bus. It was practically full, but we managed to get a great seat with a huge window. It didn't matter how tired I was, there was no way I was letting myself fall asleep.
As we drove along, the bus driver - who was very funny and knew his route/information - took us a different way to most other tour bus drivers so that we could see more. When we'd approach signs saying no coaches...he ignored them, and drove that way anyways. He's a motorcyclist, and because he knows the area, he knows which roads are safe for what. We went to a couple of different castles, saw some amazing scenery, and then came to a few of what I would say are my favourite spots. There was the rope bridge. - Normally, not something I'd cross...but because I was in Ireland, it had to be done. Crossing it the first time was ok. I was admiring the view and it was beautiful...until I accidently looked to the side. Woooooahh! That's creepy. We got to the other side, took pictures of more breathtaking scenery, and then crossed over again to walk back to the coach. From there we drove to a castle, and then it was off to the main attraction. Giant's Causeway.
When we arrived, it wasn't what we'd expected. My Mom and I were actually a bit worried/disappointed. We didn't see anything that had looked like what we'd seen in the pamphlets. We began walking and exploring, and about 10 minutes later...we were in heaven. You should have seen this place! I mean, you'll see pictures...but WOW!
We spent a good hour and a half there, climbing on volcanic rock and taking loads of pictures...then it was a walk back towards the bus to get an ice cream, a chat with the driver, and then we were off. As we drove back, there was time to sleep. My Mom and I caught a quick nap, and when we arrived back in Belfast, and caught a bus. It wasn't one that went right into Lisburn though. In fact, it's last stop was Sprucefield. The bus driver got off though, and explained to us that IF we were walkers (Knowing some people wouldn't walk as far as the parking lot), we were only about a mile away from where we wanted to be. We began walking, and when we approached a hotel on our left, we decided we'd go in to call Robert, and let him know what was going on. As we walked up to the hotel, a taxi pulled in. We decided to take it to the Ballymac hotel, where we sat and oggled/spoke to the good looking bartender/waiter. There's something about Irish men...a hidden secret. They're GORGEOUS! And their accents are amazing! Anyway, after eating dinner, my Mom and I sat there to wait for Robert. He showed up, bought us cappuccinos, and the 3 of us stayed entirely too late. Not only that, but when we returned to the house, we talked a little bit more before heading to bed. By the time we went to sleep...it was definitely needed. xx
