Day 289

Woke up sooooo tired today. Didn't even jump in the shower. The make up from the day before was still in tact, so I got dressed, did my teeth, and went directly downstairs. I did what needed to be done with the boys, and was hanging laundry when Cath dropped her 3 children off. When she did, she told me how beautiful her daughter thought I was. What a nice way to start a day! I got Zach to read me his book - with Will's help, while the boys played football outside. I had finished hanging the laundry while speaking to Madelaine, and had gotten everything ready and at the door before it was time to go.

After calling everyone in, I covered the boys in sunscreen, and we left the house. Madelaine and I spoke most of the way. Will and Zach ran ahead, and Josh, Nathaniel and Oliver were in a conversation of their own. Unfortunately Will and Zach ran across the road without an adult, and after recovering from a near heart attack, I had a talk with them. I didn't do any yelling though, and didn't want to ruin the good morning we had had, so I took care of the situation calmly, and walked everyone into the school grounds. In they went, and exhausted...I somehow made it back to the house.

When I arrived I slumped up the stairs, swung my door open and shut again, then dropped onto my mattress. I was asleep within minutes, perhaps even seconds. I was awoken when Toni called me to see what time we should meet for coffee, but was able to fall asleep fairly quickly afterwards. I didn't even hear my alarm go off at 10:45, and woke myself up 10 minutes later, realizing I had better get a move on.

Well, I didn't move quickly, but I still managed to meet Toni on time. We went into the theatre to buy our tickets for tonight's showing of Shrek, and then we walked over to Freeport for a Starbucks. It took us ages to decide whether we wanted cold or hot drinks, but in the end, we decided on cold. In a few minutes though, we're going for hot. Not sure yet if Toni will be having one, but we're going anyway.

We sat outside, and then did some shopping. At 2:30, I decided I had to drive back towards the house so I'd be home in time to collect the boys. I was back with 10 minutes to spare. I did a few things around the house, and then, energyless, walked up to the school. I got them, and Zach wasn't too impressed that I was there without the car, but wasn't mad at me.

When we got back to the house, I put all the laundry on the carpet, and made us all a hot chocolate. After drinking it...I was wishing I hadn't. I was soooo hot, and at one point, I had to sit myself down as everything began to go blurry like when I've passed out before.

All was ok, I went to folding laundry, and did Josh's spellings with him, while Nathaniel read to Heloise who had just arrived and was making dinner. When I finished the laundry, I came upstairs to wrap Zach's birthday present. I brought it downstairs and into the playroom where all 3 boys stood. I handed it to him, explained that I'd give him his card on the actual day, but that I wanted him to open his gift now. He got really excited, and moved it into the family room. Heloise asked why he was opening it now, and I told her I'd explain after he opened it. Well...you should have seen the look on his face when he realized HE was the main character. "Zach Hood?" "I'm the actor?" It was too cute!

We sat down to read some, and then ended up moving to the playroom so that Heloise could concentrate on what she was doing. It was then that I almost broke into tears. I had explained to Zach that I gave him his gift early because I wanted to be able to read some of the book to him myself...

In the playroom, I was reading it, and he stopped me. "Where are you going when you're done this?" he asked. I looked at him and asked if he meant tonight, or if he meant when I was finished reading the whole book to him. He said the whole book. I looked at him and said, "I'm going back to Canada sweetie". He asked why, and I said I had to go back there to live. The look on his face...well...I don't think I'll ever get it out of my mind. His eyes filled with tears, and he was silent. Heloise called the boys for dinner, and he just sat there. I turned to him and told him how much I'd miss him. I said I'd be back for a visit, and he asked when. When I said next summer, he remained still. I gave him a hug, and he put his head on my shoulder and didn't move. It was the longest cuddle ever. It was nice, but took everything in me not to cry my eyes out. When we stopped hugging, he got up, and went into the kitchen. I went to the table. I heard Heloise say "Well you knew she was leaving". Poor little guy :( I told him I wasn't leaving yet, and I explained the next few days to him. He still didn't seem too happy. The boys ate, and Nathaniel and Josh went to Judo and Cricket. After dinner, Zach and I sat to read a little more of his book. Eventually, pineapple juiced hands wiped on my leg...he had to go to the store with Heloise. I got ready, and began catching up on my blogs, then left to meet up with Toni. Picking up a paper on the way. My Mom and I weren't in it.

Toni and I went to see "Shrek Forever After". It was great. What had me laughing half way home though, was what happened in the parking lot afterwards. Toni and I were standing there talking, when a car pulled into a spot. Two guys got out and asked us if we wanted to go bowling. "Pardon?" I said. One of the guys repeated the question...and here's where I have to give him credit. I said "No, time for bed"...as I'm soooo exhausted it's all I can think about...and his answer was "Woah, we just met!" I did a fake laugh, Toni and I said bye, and got in our separate cars. The two of us looked at each other from the drivers seats and broke out laughing. I was still laughing 10 minutes down the road, and apparently so was Toni. Now I'm back at the house, I NEED to sleep. Good Night xx
