Day 234

Yesterday...it was hard to get up. Really hard. But eventually I made it, and I was downstairs on time. The boys had had their breakfast, and were doing the last of their homework. Stuff they hadn't done the night before. Josh tried to blame his not practicing his math in a while, on me...but I soon corrected that. Zach and I did his flash cards, and he began to draw. He wanted me to help him, but as usual, because the boys hadn't done all of their homework the night before, we ran out of time. Josh had hit the chandelier with an eraser he was throwing around, so I spoke to him about that. I explained that he's lucky I don't scream, and I only tell him off to save him getting screamed at later. I try to stop him from doing something before the wrong person sees. Needless to say...it doesn't always happen that way.

When we left the house, thinking we'd be running behind already because Zach wasn't ready, I had just locked the door, and we were walking up the drive. Zach didn't have his drink cup. We ran back in to find it, and I decided we'd better bring the car to the school. We got in, and I turned on the Glee soundtrack that I've made. The boys seem to enjoy it, and every time "Sweet Caroline" comes on, I crank it. So, that being said, the volume went up, and I asked them if they were ready. "Ready for what?" they said. "Just wait...You'll see...Get Ready...BAH BAH BAH!" - That's what you have to be ready for. "BAH BAH BAH". They weren't joining in, but they were laughing which was good enough for me. When we parked, I explained that you HAVE to sing that part of the song, so we'll see how it goes down the next time I play it. I took them into the playground, said goodbye, and waited for Zach's teacher to let them in.

I then drove back to the house, where I would spend the majority of my day. I was excited. I had to wait in for a company to come pick up some chairs anyway, so I had told myself I'd get a bunch of stuff done, and wouldn't go anywhere. I turned on my computer, switched the laundry loads, hung some, and started folding some while watching Grey's Anatomy. I made myself a white chocolate mocha, and also watched an episode of Big Bang Theory. In the midst of it all, the men collecting the chairs had arrived. Well...no one had told me where the chairs were. I searched for a bit, then, feeling sorry for the men standing around, I gave up and called Heloise. No answer. I tried Tim. "Oh I forgot to leave them out!" I went to one of the garages, showed the men which box it was behind the lawn mower, and they carefully carried it out. You see, the lawn mower isn't something tiny that you can maneuver around. No, it's a big ass ride on mower. - I know, I should mow the grass!! Anyway, after a couple of minutes, they had the box out of the garage, and one of them was scraping grease off of his shoe. They went on their way, and I went back into the house to do more laundry etc.

After I had finished all of that, I decided to look up a cupcake recipe for the boys. I knew I wanted to make the insides blue, but wasn't sure what else I wanted to do. I found a recipe called "Hummingbird Bakery's Marshmallow Cupcakes". Well, that was it. I'd found what I wanted. Knowing that I'd just used marshmallows in my white chocolate mocha, I was certain I would have to go to the store. I made sure I had all of the other ingredients, and because it was now 1 o'clock and I didn't have long, I jumped in the car and drove to the co-op. I picked up the marshmallows I needed, and also some bubblegum flavoured candy - blue tiny round candies - I paid, and got in the car. I had to stop at the bank, so I pulled over, ran to the machine, and jumped back in the car. Leaving there, I was sure the tire went flat. But after getting home, it didn't look much lower than it had. I still wasn't sure about it though, so I figured I'd give it a test run when I went to get the boys later.

I came in the house, and began to bake. I mixed the batter, split it into two different bowls, and licked the spoons. I then put some blue food colouring into one of the bowls of batter. It looked awesome. I watched American Idol while I worked. Looking at the time, I knew I couldn't put the cupcakes in the oven just yet. Although I did argue with myself for a bit. Part of me thought I wouldn't be gone that long if I was taking the car, but the other part of me thought I definitely shouldn't leave the house with the oven on. I turned it off, placed the cupcake batter in the pans, into the oven so the cat wouldn't get to them, cleaned up, and went to get Nathaniel. I had found out earlier that Zach was going to a friend's for dinner.

When I arrived at the school, I stood at Zach's class, as that's where I normally meet the boys. I spoke to Cath, who was taking Zach home, and I had to wave for him anyways, as the teacher didn't know he wasn't coming home. The teacher called me Nanny again, and you saw the look of disgust and disappointment on Zach's face. A huge sigh, the slump of the shoulders, and a roll of the eyes, and he looked up to her and said "SHE'S NOT MY NANNY!" I couldn't stop laughing. He started explaining to her who I was, but then Noah's Grandma began talking to me, so I didn't hear the rest of Zach and his teacher's convo. The Grandma thought he hadn't seen me, so I was explaining to her that they seem to think I'm a different person each day. In fact, and I didn't tell her this part, I was standing with Michelle and Steve yesterday, I waved, and Zach saw, and the teacher's assistant held him back for like 5 minutes, talking to him, not letting him come with me, then finally asked him my name I guess, cuz when he said it she let him know. Do I REALLY look that different each day??? Anyway, Zach came over, I opened his candies for him and told him he was going to his friend Will's house. He was very happy.

Nathaniel came around and asked where Zach was going, and when I told him, said "So it's just YOU AND ME?!?!" He sounded so excited. It was awesome. We got in the car, and drove to the house. He saw I was making cupcakes and wanted to know who for hehe. He asked if he could help decorate them, but I knew they wouldn't be ready before he had to leave for football. He went to get changed, and I made him pizza and a salad. While he was eating, I made myself a salad and he told me I could have a slice of his pizza. Then, still baking, I was in the kitchen and he asked if he could play Wii. He did that until Heloise got home, and by the time she got home the cupcakes were finally cool enough to cut holes into. She left to get Josh from football, and she took Nathaniel to meet Tim at the school. I continued to bake. She had come home with Josh and his friend Ben. I put a pot of water on the stove, and put a bowl of marshmallows on top. I had to ask Heloise how she would do it, cuz the internet said to use a pan underneath, and that didn't make sense to me. She seemed to agree, and that's when I got the pot out. - It's not a good idea to melt marshmallow in the microwave - When the marshmallow had melted, I began trying to get it into the holes in the cupcakes. It was so finicky, I was going insane.

Heloise took Josh to the doctors, Ben sat in the family room watching TV, and I struggled some more with melted marshmallow. Eventually, I decided to try something a comment at the bottom of the recipe said, and it worked SO much better! I was now on a roll. Cleaning the dish that had the melted marshmallow in it however, was going to be a chore. I did it though, and when Heloise got home the marshmallow in the cupcakes was cooling down. She made dinner for Josh and Ben, then they got ready for cubs while I iced the cupcakes and put the candies on top. When I finished, I tried one. They were really good, although I'd prefer it without the candies. Josh had one, and Zach had been dropped off so we gave one to his friend and her sister, and of course to Zach, who liked it so much he wanted another one. So did Josh, but he wasn't too sure about the bubblegum bits which surprised me cuz he loves gum. I have a feeling it's cuz I said I wasn't sure if you could eat them as gum cuz they were so chewy, or if they were just candy. I think that made him a little uneasy. Anyway, neither of them were allowed a second one. Ben only ate half of his.

I was cleaning up and talking to my Mom on Skype when Heloise took the boys to cubs, and when she returned, Zach said hi to my Mom, and gave me a hug from her. It was too cute. He asked me to help him build a rubber band airplane, and I told him when I was finished cleaning up I would. As I was drying some dishes, I heard him singing to himself, and walked into the breakfast room to see that he had been putting it together himself! So far it looked great. I told him I'd be in as soon as I could. He came out to speak to my Mom some more, and that's when Heloise told him it was time for bed. Poor guy. He wanted pineapple juice and started to cry cuz his parents said he wasn't dragging bed time out, and he was having milk. Up he went. Nathaniel had come in in tears from hitting his knee on the car door, but he had to go to the washroom so bad he was doing a dance, so I told him to do that. I finished cleaning up, and went upstairs to say good night to the boys. I walked into the room and saw Zach crying. I walked towards him and kicked over a cup of milk. CRAP! I quickly cleaned it up, and gave him a kiss good night. Nathaniel called me from the bath. He wanted to know what the cupcakes looked like, so I told him. I found out my phone was dead, and had said good night to my Mom, so I got my shoes on, ran downstairs and called Toni to tell her I was on my way, and I left the house to go to the movies.

We were standing at the cashier buying our tickets for "Iron Man 2", when something came over me. NEVER would I just interrupt someone's conversation and tell them what I thought...but at that moment, it was like word vomit. I couldn't stop it. It just happened. The girl and I guess her mom, beside me, were buying tickets for "Dear John" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I turned, and at first it wasn't too obvious that I was talking to them, but I said "Oh no, you don't want to see that". Neither of them looked at me...so I went out of my way to tap the mom on the shoulder. "Did you just say you're going to see Dear John?" Yes...she replied. "DON'T DO IT!" I said. She laughed. I said honestly it's terrible. Then I explained that I was sorry, and don't normally do what I just did, but it was not a good movie. She told me she wasn't expecting it to be, but the girl she was with wanted to see it. She then turned to the girl and said, "She says it's terrible, are you sure you want to see it?" And the girl was positive. Well...I tried to warn her. Toni even stepped in, and the cashier we were talking to! He said he hadn't seen it but he thought it looked like a crap love story. I turned to him and said "That's the thing! It's not even crap cuz it's a chick flick...it's not a chick flick, it's just crap!" He started laughing. We thanked him and walked towards the popcorn. The ladies were in front of me, and I apologized again, explaining that I never bud into people's conversations (I'm pretty sure they didn't believe me by this point haha). The older lady said she wasn't expecting it to be good, but the girl wanted to see it. And I said ok, well it's not a chick flick, and it's not at all what you're expecting. And she turned to the girl and went "OH! It's not a chick flick! We should have brought - so and so - " To which I thought NO, why would you put anyone else through it?!?! But we all laughed, and that was that, they went into their theatre to be disappointed, and Toni and I walked into ours to make sure we'd get good seats.

There were only about 2 people in our theatre at that moment, and so, although we said we weren't getting any popcorn or anything, we decided it was just wrong to sit in a theatre without anything, and we went back out to the main area. Toni bought pick and mix, and I got a small popcorn with a sprite. The people in line behind me were talking about going to see "Dear John", but this time, I forced myself to keep my mouth shut. I told Toni when she came back from paying for her candy. We both felt sorry for them. We went into the theatre, and got some great seats. A while later she had run out to go to the washroom, and when she returned, she mentioned that a lot of people were going to be disappointed tonight as she'd just heard a number of girls say they were going to see "Dear John". Oh well we thought, at least we're seeing an awesome movie. And that it was. I've decided I want to be Scarlett Johansson's character. She's AWESOME! Anyway, the movie was great. We stayed until after the credits as I had heard there was another part you had to see...and as most of the theatre emptied, Toni wondered if I was sure. There were about 10 people in front of us that stayed as well, so I was sure my source had to be right. They were. The two of us left confused, but I've since had the last bit cleared up. Not that it helped the confusion...but I'm sure it will all make sense some time.

I got some money out for Toni, and gave her the cupcake I had brought for her, and we both left the theatre. On my way back to the house, I had a mild heart attack. I couldn't see my purse. It wasn't where I normally put it. I was trying to go around round a bouts in the dark, and was glancing around the vehicle wondering what I had done with it. I could only remember carrying out popcorn, and suddenly had a bad feeling I'd left it on the floor of the theatre. Then I remembered I'd been to the bank machine, so I thought "oh no! I've left it on the roof!" As soon as I could pull over into a driveway, I did. I turned on the lights and couldn't find it. I twisted my body around to face the back seat, and still couldn't see it. I then looked to the ground, and that's where it was. THANK GOD!! It had slipped off the backseat, onto the floor. I drove home on the dark winding roads I'm not sure I'd drive home on at night again...and approached the train tracks. The barriers went down, and I thought of how alone I was, no one else on the road, darkness, and spooky. I felt like I was in a horror movie. I had the doors locked, but still didn't feel safe. I put my hand on the parking stick, getting ready to reverse if anyone approached the window. The barriers went up, I left the car in drive, and I booked it across the tracks and to the house.

When I arrived, everyone was in bed. I went to boil the kettle, but decided it was way too noisy. I turned it off and saw a spider on the wall. Ew! I tried to kill it, and it got away between the cracks. Great :S I turned off the lights, and went up to my room. I spoke to some people online for a bit, and eventually went to sleep thinking I'd be able to sleep in Saturday morning...you'll hear about that in the next blog. xx
