Day 121

Wow! For the first time since December 18th...I am FINALLY full! It's about time! But I certainly feel as though I ate too much. Stupid birthdays. I was doing so good all day...and then Heloise asked me to pick out Josh's birthday cake. In hindsight, I should have picked something I knew I'd hate. But instead...I chose something that looked too delicious to be true. Oops!

You clearly know that's not where my day began though, so let's rewind a little bit...
After a very short sleep, I awoke to the sound of my alarm. "Uggggh", was definitely the first thought that went through my mind. Followed by a "Do I have to get up?", and "What if I fell back to sleep for just a couple more minutes?" I let my eyes close for 2 seconds, and quickly opened them again realizing that falling back to sleep, without setting another alarm...could have been detrimental. So...up I got. I quickly found something to wear, did my make up, and prepared myself for the brick of cold air I was about to smack into. I knew it was coming the second I opened my door. BRR!

I walked downstairs, and the first person I saw was Josh. I wished him a Happy Birthday, and got the two of us some breakfast. Nathaniel came down and I got his as well. Tim came down and did the rest of the boys courses. I coloured some more of my scrapbook, and Josh did his times tables. Nathaniel attempted his spelling, and although the two of them were pretty much ready on time...Zach was being a monster. We had to leave a little early today so that I could drop Heloise at the school she got her placement at, and Zach always plays up in the mornings. As soon as he sees I'm downstairs, he runs the other way. Then when I finally get him to sit at the table...he asks me (if no one else is around) for his breakfast, and when I get it for him, he doesn't eat it. Today, I was putting an end to this. He had done it yesterday and I told him he couldn't play DS for the day...so when he played up again today, I added a day. He continued to complain, and not do what he was told, and long story short, he's not allowed to play DS for 2 weeks. I'm gonna have to hide it to ensure the rules are followed though. He finally finished his pear, and I rushed him out the door. I was not impressed with his behaviour.

We jumped in the car, and I dropped Heloise at Angels. Listening/singing pretty loudly to the Killers, I headed back towards the boys school. I stopped at Tina's (Toni's sisters) to see if her boys needed a ride, as their little sister Zoe is sick. They had already gone with a neighbour though, so the boys and I continued to school. Took Zach ages to get out of the car. We finally got to the playground. Nathaniel went into his class, and Josh went off to his. I took Zach in and changed his shoes, and then I headed back to the car. I had to stop at home quickly, I got the mail - where I opened my Owen toque from home :D - and then I went to Braintree.

Now...today was SUPPOSED to be a Maija day. A day of relaxation. No rush to do anything, and no real plans. I wandered into the shopping area, and the store I was going to go in to check for things to add to Josh's present was closed. So I went to Starbucks. It was the lady and girl that I normally speak to, so I hardly had to order my drink. They're pretty awesome. I took it and went to the scrapbooking store. I got a couple of things for me, but they didn't have anything Africa like for Josh. I checked what felt like every other store for him...but I just couldn't find anything good enough, or anything he'd need. I was at a loss. I went to leave, and saw the pet store. Oh why not? I thought. I walked in, and when I saw they didn't have any frogs or anything, I began to look at Hamsters. This was at about 11. I sent Heloise a text, asking if she would mind Josh having some. I hung around waiting for an answer. Getting bored in the pet store, I decided to walk to some other ones, returning after about half an hour. I looked some more, and decided to start pricing things in case she called and wanted to know more. That didn't happen. I thought I'd walk back over to the other side of the complex, and then to the car, and if she didn't text by then, I'd drive home to relax. Then if she answered saying yes, I would make a special trip to pick them up.

Well, as I was driving away, she called. But it wasn't about the hamsters. Turned out this lady she was supposed to meet with at college for a referral had called and wanted to meet up with her. This meant #1 - She had to leave her placement early. # 2 - I was no longer having my relaxing, non-scheduled day. I had to race to Coggeshall to pick her up, and then we headed to Chelmsford. I was thinking this was good, and that it meant I could look some more for another gift for Josh. Wrong! Heloise went into college, and I walked up to town. It was a 15 minute walk, and this meant I had 15 minutes to spend shopping, and 15 to walk back. HOWEVER...Heloise asked me to find a cake for Josh. By the time I got that, stood in line, and paid...I had 3 minutes to get a Starbucks. I had had a couple of quick glances in some other stores before hand, but nothing had jumped out. I went to meet her at the school at our arranged time. I waited...and waited...and half an hour later, she was done. She came outside and commented on how big but delicious the cake looked. We walked back to the car, and headed to pick Zach up from his friend's. By the time we left their house, it was time to go get the other two.

We got to the school and waited for them to come out. I had told Tina I would drive her boys home as well, so we waited for them. Joe came out, and Nathaniel was calling him Piggy. Apparently it's his nickname. Right now you're probably thinking "How terrible!" Which is exactly what I was thinking, before Joe demonstrated how he got the nickname. You see, he snorts a lot. Not when he laughs...no...it's just something he does. He began to do it, and I could not stop laughing. It was the cutest thing ever. You should see this child. He's so tiny. You just want to put him in your pocket and take him home. He's too cute. We dropped him and Sam at home, and then went back to Heloise's.

I gave Josh his present, and he was much happier with it than I expected. I knew he had asked for a Tatty Teddy...but I didn't think it would mean so much to him. I got about 4 hugs for it. Then Nathaniel kept bringing up that that's all he wants from me for his birthday. Well that's easy! We got ready for dinner, and my Uncle and Aunt came to meet us. Then we all drove to Pizza Express.

We enjoyed a meal, and when it came time for choosing dessert, I let the boys in on the cake secret. Instead of ordering, the bill was paid, and we all came home for tea/coffee, cake and ice cream. We sat and talked for a bit, and then the boys began to go up to bed. I logged onto my computer. Just as I did, Josh asked if I would read to him. I shut my computer off, and up I went. We read a couple of chapters, and then were told it was bed time. I went downstairs, cleaned my things up, and came up to bed. I was ready to fall asleep instantly...but I wanted to speak to my Mom, and of course had to write my blog...so here I am at 10:30. Oops! Guess I better get some sleep. I haven't told you yet, but I don't get this weekend off either. Sigh. Good Night xx

  1. Well I guess if it wasn't for South Africa you would have quite a few days owing to you but how can you say anything when you had the trip of a lifetime. Hopefully you will get some Maija time soon.
So pleased Josh loved his gift. You never did say what Heloise said about getting a hamster although who knows what Jelly Cat would do if the boys let the poor little thing out to run around.
I think we need a pic of Josh and tatty teddy and also of Joe. lol

    Love you lots

  2. Getting back to your blog #119 that your mom says Kurt needs to read. Maybe it is 911 and not 119!! He needs the warning!!! lol
Sounds like Zack is giving you a lot of grief. He might need a couple of different things taken away to realize you mean business instead of just one thing for an extended period of time. Who knows, it may be his mission in life just to tick you off!!! ha!
Not sure what a Tatty Teddy is but if it is that popular it might be at the olympics and your folks could get you one (some) for the boy's next special occation! They had them in South Africa so it is worth a try.
Waiting for some birthday pics and some days off having a great time pics too!
    Love you lots

  3. There's no way Heloise is letting Josh get a hamster. Which is too bad because I really wanted one as well. Picture Joe as this little cartoon character. HUGE brown eyes, brown hair, and just the cutest face. I'll see if I can get a pic of Josh and his Tatty Teddy at some point.
Love and Miss you tons xoxoxoxox

    Haha Nice Aunt Cindy. xox
