WOW! WHAT A DAY/NIGHT! I had soooooo much fun!!! It's 3:50am and I have to be up at 8 to go shopping. Haha, I am honestly insane. But what a way to turn 24!
I woke up at 6, and had 30 minutes to get ready and leave. I ran downstairs, and almost into Josh who was standing there looking completely dumbfounded. "Where are YOU going?" he asked. Had his tone of been a little less rude, I would have answered him properly...but instead I responded with a simple "out" - in the same tone as his question. I ran out the door to find Tim had parked behind the vehicle I needed. He came out and moved it, and off I went to Stansted airport.
I found my way easily enough, and was there soon enough that I had to wait for Martin to come out. Huge hug! It was soooo nice to see him! Now clearly this is not where my day ended...but I think as it's past 4am now, and I have something to check before going to bed...I will write the rest in tomorrow's blog because I need at LEAST 3 hours of sleep. So, I'm sorry there's not much tonight, but hey, maybe now you have something to look forward to tomorrow :p Good Night xx
Well...it's 8:25pm the next night, and my feet still haven't woken up. That right there tells you lastnight was AWESOME!
Ok, so from where I left off...Martin and I drove home without getting too turned around. At one point I did take the wrong exit, but realized right away and was able to get right back on to the highway. When we got home I grabbed some cereal and Martin had some tea. Then he went up and stole my bed for a nap, Tom was still in bed, so I curled up on the couch under a fleece, and watched Home Alone 2. Martin woke up to watch the ending, and Tom came down soon after. We all layered up, and then Toni came to pick us up for the battle.
We listened to the Sat Nav...which I should have known would be disastrous after the Niagara Falls fiasco...but anyways...it took us up this crazy winding, narrow road that was clearly only big enough for one car. There were a couple of heart attacks at one point, and we had to reverse for another car at a different point...but after a bit of a panic, we arrived safe and sound. It was then that Toni and I decided we were very nervous. We signed in and got all of our paintball gear on. Coveralls for the 4 of us, and extra padding (like a bullet proof vest) for Toni and I. - She has the pictures of that...I'll try to get them soon -
Although I was freaked out, paint balling was sooo much fun! We played 4 courses twice. We would attack and then defend...or vice versa. As we joined a team when we arrived, we didn't have much of a chance at winning. You seem when we got there, they were already being destroyed by the other team. But anyway, the first game I sort of laid low. I caught the debris off of some of the paint balls but didn't actually get hit. In the second round I shot someone! I was so impressed with myself. Not sure if I shot anyone else all day...but still :p I too got hit once. It hurt, but you forgot about it soon enough. Although I will have a pretty bruise by tomorrow to remind me. It's forming now, and hurts to touch. The last round had us in a castle defending out flag. Toni and I ran out of ammo about halfway through, but seeing as it was the last round, we were tired anyway, so we sat down for a rest :p We then discovered - thanks to some other guy - that people still duck when they hear the noise from your guns...so we continued to pull the trigger. At the end of it, we were so completely covered in mud that we removed our shoes, and rolled our pants up to get into Toni's car. (Real attractive). We had a lot of laughs on the way home, and took a different, non life threatening route home. It was a lot quicker as well.
When we got home, Toni went to her place for a shower and a nap, I jumped in the shower right away, and then made dinner. After eating the boys took a nap on the couch, and I got ready for what was going to be an AMAZING night!
All dressed up and ready to go, we came downstairs. Heloise commented on how she'd only ever seen me in jeans since I got here. I didn't say anything about that. (I'm not going to wear skirts and dresses to play with the children). I then got quite a few compliments and felt really special :D We headed out, and with Tom's Sat Nav...we got to Toni's without a problem.
Then off to the bar. We went to Yates first, where the other 3 started drinking...and oddly enough, we danced there as well. - Yes, everyone dances at the pubs here - When we finished up there, we headed to Chicago's. I can't even begin to explain how much fun I had. We danced all night (hence the no feeling in my feet today), and we had a lot of laughs. We also met a couple of guys. One really nice one :) His name's Terry.
Apparently someone got bottled while Tom was in the middle of the dance floor. Luckily I didn't see that. That's not something that normally happens here. We danced some more with Terry, and I am sure I am in a number of that groups pictures. They're in quite a few of ours too. It was such a good night. When we left, I couldn't stop smiling. We got in the car, and as I was driving and could no longer feel my toes for the pain my feet were in, I changed into my running shoes. (I had stuck them in the car because Heloise and Tim told me I couldn't drive in heels...I told them I could and it was something I did at home all the time...they still didn't believe me). Anyway, I changed into those...dropped Toni off after us getting turned around a few times, and then...Tom's Sat Nav wasn't plugged in, so we took the wrong route home.
We laughed so hard I was practically in tears. Then, to get us home, Tom plugged the Tom Tom in, but he put Toni's post code in instead of Heloise's. So we ended up right back where we started. Finally we figured out our way home. I recognized some things and we were safe and sound. I came up, crawled into bed...attempted to get through this blog, and failed miserably. Now I will write today's blog. See you there :p
