Day 75, and my worst day yet.
I won't go into detail. I feel really sick right now and am absolutely exhausted after what ended up being a tearful day. It's nothing life threatening, and nothing terribly wrong with anyone in my family, so no need to worry there...it's just been an extremely trying day, and I am sure the rest of this weekend will be a little rough as well.
I will try to keep this one short as I clearly need some sleep, and I know the last one was lengthy for those of you who read before bed or before work ;) Sorry about that.
So let's skip the morning - except for the part where I tell you I saw the good looking guy that I think lives in the house "Bob the Builder" was working on - and we'll go right to lunch time. I walked up to the school (No sign of anyone this time), and I waited outside the gate for the teachers to let us in. Up the ramp and in the classroom to get Zach....but where is he? I couldn't possibly find him. He had a coat over his head. I pretended for a couple of minutes that I would have to leave without him as I couldn't see him, and then ended the game with a tickle. I noticed he had a sticker on his shirt but he wouldn't tell me what it was for. Xavier had one too. As the 3 of us were leaving the class, one of the teachers told us there had been a practice fire drill and their skills earned them stickers. They both told me that's not what it was for...she just gave it to them cuz she felt like it. Sure...that's a good enough reason.
We walked home and acted out all kinds of different things. At one point, I couldn't get past Zach cuz I didn't know the password, so I became a dinosaur and broke through the gate ie, his arms. Then as we walked the last little bit, he was holding my hand and Xavier was in front of us. Zach said "See that old man in front of us with the walking stick?" I said "Yes, does he have that because of his bad hip?" Well...that got the cutest laugh out of him, and he said "Yes!"
We continued home and when we got in, they played while I made lunch. Even I ate lunch today because as far as I knew, I was having popcorn for dinner...and my workout had made me hungry. So, ham and cheese sandwich for Xavier, cheese toasty for Zach, and a sandwich for me. The boys also had peppers and carrots, and Zach ate some olives (EW!). After lunch the 3 of us zipped up our space suits (coats), and jumped into the rocket ship (car) before it took off, and we zoomed through galaxies (streets and towns) in search of the moon (Witham). We went the right way first...but I second guessed myself and turned around...then we went the wrong way, and turned around again to get back on the right track. The boys asked me to fly faster as the "baddies" were behind us and catching up. We faked them out and took a sharp sneaky turn, losing them along the way. Phew, we were safe. We arrived at the Tesco's on the moon and met up with Xavier's mom. Zach and I went into Costa's for a drink. Costa's, as far as I know, is England's answer to Starbucks. What Tim Hortons is to Starbucks in Ontario. They're everywhere. Well, seeing as there was no Starbucks anywhere close I thought aw what the heck, I'll buy a gingerbread latte here. And that's when I was reassured that I had good reasoning for spending that extra pound in Starbucks. What a terrible cup of "Christmas heaven". I will not be drinking there by choice anytime soon.
The two of us walked back to the rocket ship and jumped in to continue our journey to the sun (back to Kelvedon). We discussed what colours our space suits would be on the sun. Mine was bright blue, and his was orange. As we drove Zach was telling me about all the weapons he had to shoot the baddy aliens. I asked if he had a martian marshmallow thrower. He didn't know what that was. Can you believe it? I explained that it was a sling shot type weapon that shot marshmallows. When he asked what it did, I continued by saying "well, martians are allergic to marshmallows, so when you shoot one at them, if it hits them, they disintegrate". We continued talking about that and Zach decided if they caught the marshmallow without touching it and flung it back, it wouldn't matter because marshmallows can't hurt us. He decided he'd put the martian marshmallow thrower (Which is hard to say by the way), in the pocket of his trousers. Zach had asked me to put the music on, and today, he wanted Michael Buble. This made me happy. He wanted it turned up loud today so we flew (drove) along and he picked up on the words, as usual, and sang about his heart. Sometimes he is just too cute. We made it to the sun and parked at the boys school...my fellow spaceman had fallen asleep. I waited a few minutes, then picked him up and stood outside in the playground with him in his arms. Seems this is our new routine. Which is fine, as I love his cuddles.
Zoe came by and she was all dressed up for the disco. She had a new outfit on with a bracelet, and a cute purse to match, which held many more bracelets. She looked lovely and was so excited to be going to the dance. We waited and when Josh came out we left and drove home. I'll skip most of the afternoon...it wasn't good. Zach and I decided we'd watch a movie and so we turned on "Happy Feet". We cuddled on the couch and Josh came down to get some fruit. He sliced his hand and I did what I had to to clean it up. Then I got a phone call from my mom which was something I really needed. When I was finished on the phone, I went back downstairs and continued to watch the movie with Zach. We got interrupted a number of times, and Zach decided he wanted to work on cleaning out the playroom some more. So we paused the movie and we'll watch the rest tomorrow. We went into the playroom and he was much quicker at his decisions tonight. Knew exactly what he wanted from each bin, and what he didn't want.
Some time passed, and Heloise had come home and made dinner. My plateful was sitting at my setting. She hasn't caught on yet, to the fact that I don't eat dinner on movie nights. She also brought out chocolate cake which I'm not sure why I did, but I had a tiny slice of with some strawberries. Brigitta arrived and Heloise, her and I went to see New Moon for the 2nd time. I tell ya, a little Edward can really cheer you up after a bad day. That's what I want for Christmas. A boy like Edward. Anyway, now I'm home and in bed, and I'm sure this isn't as short as you expected, as it's not even as short as I intended. Sorry...sometimes it's just hard to condense my day. But there you have it. Not too much detail, but the highlights anyway. Good Night xx

What a great trip into space you had today. Glad you got home in time from the sun to pick up the other two boys. You are so wonderful with the things you do with the boys. Especially Zach. I am sure he will remember this year for a very long time and be talking about how great it was to have Maija there with him and taking care of him.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had a rather teary day and I am sure you will wake up feeling not so great as crying then sleeping does not really come out well in the morning. I hope you have a better evening with your friends tomorrow. Glad you Heloise and Toni got to see the movie again.
I hope to go Sunday afternoon.
Very impressive that Zac wanted to clean the playroom out. You are making an impact on him without him even knowing good for you.
