Day 5...No camera yet, but a NUMBER of new experiences and adventures today.
My day began the same. Brought the boys to school, then dropped Zach at preschool. Heloise and I then went to Chelmsford - The Birthplace of Radio! - To go to her University library and pick up some books, and do a little bit of shopping. Guess what else was there...YOU GOT IT! STARBUCKS! The employees at this one didn't make me feel nearly as out of place as the one yesterday. I said I had a complicated order for them cuz it's not on the menu, and when I said it's called a London Fog, or an Earl Grey Tea Misto...the girl knew exactly what I was talking about!!! AND my starbucks card even worked there! AWESOME!
Anyways, through some shops - all I bought today was some stationary - BUT I think I've found my new favourite clothing brand. It is all soooo nice! I don't think it'll be cheap, but it's all really nice dressy clothes that are definitely my style.
So from there we went to the University (Made me miss school), and after that we went to get car insurance. Got a call from a Scotsman and I had to ask him to repeat himself about 3 times. I had absolutely no idea what he was saying. Luckily I found out later that Heloise couldn't understand him either. Anyway, got the car insurance sorted...drove home in a hurry to wait for the Scottish guy to make a delivery (but he had already been when we arrived)...then we had 20 mins to sit, have a cup of tea, watch "Whose Line Is It Anyway?", and then go get Zach.
Heloise asked if I wanted to drive. I thought, now that I'm insured, there's no better time really. So I jumped into the drivers seat. Well...that was...different. Driving on the left side doesn't seem so bad. Having the shift on the left is odd though. The thing I really am not fond of is how narrow the roads are. It's pure insanity! Two lanes - one traveling in each direction - is, no joke, the same size as one of our lanes going in one direction! It's insane. And the roads are so windy that you can't see someone coming until they're at your hood...and then you have to pull into the bushes. Not to mention the fact that I'm driving something the size of a tank. All that aside...I'm sure I'll be fine. Lol. I'll be practicing more this weekend, and then next week...I'm thrown into the routine...maybe on my own :| This could be a little scary. Heloise was sure cringing at how close I was to the curb...but I do the same when she's driving, and she thinks she does the same when her husband drives...so I'm really not sure how good of a job, or bad, I was doing.
Picked Zach up, went to get Josh, Nathaniel, and a not so nice friend of Josh's who was coming over for dinner. He literally only eats chicken fingers...and if they're any different to the kind he's used to, he won't even eat those. The potatoes were weird cuz they weren't one big one (they were new potatoes), and they weren't mashed...the flapjacks were gross because they were cold. "YUCK!" He hates cold. And the chicken fingers were gross cuz they were spicy. My lord! I couldn't believe it. I don't know if things have changed, but when I was little - if you were at a friend's place and didn't like the meal that was being served, it didn't matter. You kept your mouth shut and ate it anyway. Clearly not the way this boy acts.
Once dinner was done another friend arrived, he's a very sweet child. And then we all got in the car to go to Judo. Watched Josh and Nathaniel there, while Heloise and Zach read books and played cards on the side...then it was time to come home. The 20 minute drive meant it was bedtime for the boys when we arrived, and although I was ready to sleep at the same time, Heloise wanted to watch Twilight...and those of you that know me, know that's something I couldn't pass up. Of course once that was over I had to come online, speak to my family, and write this...it is now 12:41 - so almost 5 hours since I was ready to go to bed - and I am still awake - barely -, and very tired. So on that note, Good Night! <3
